Melbourne Decoration + Design 2013
{Paul Townsin’s Me + Me Too Lamps, made of moulded concrete and so, so beautiful in person}
{Cute and quirky, the Book Shelf by Aline Dürr would be so much fun in a kid’s room or large open-plan industrial lounge. I personally liked the lighter, environmentally-responsible X-board version just as much}
{The Boo Dining Chair and Rough Diamond Globe pendant in Copper by Ben-Tovim Design}
{Hand-turned ceramic forms the Porcelume Tom Tom pendant by Colin Hopkins, a lovely ex-architect, who fell in love with ceramics during a trip to Japan. The superfine and varied texture allows a unique lighting effect with each piece.}
{Steamer trunk inspired, the aptly named The Trunk by Trunk & Orderly. This witty and industrious pair also produce the cutest Lunch cases, sure to induce a fit of nostalgia}
{Sleek lighting and product design by Jack Papoutsidis, including the Rhombus clocks. That black floor lamp is on the wish list once it begins production. P.S. Jack let me take this shot on the sly, Thanks!}
{Although I know it doesn’t look it, this stunning concrete design called the Ribbon Chair by Vivianne Kollevris, was actually extremely comfortable. A work of art!}
Flash Light Pendant by Hugh Altschwager took out the Commercial Award for the VIVID 2013 Competition. The smooth finish perfectly reveals the natural forms in the reclaimed Australian hardwood and South Australian limestone components. Hugh works under the name Inkster Maken. Also, congratulations go out to Dale Hardiman and Adam Lynch of Lab De Stu who took out the VIVID Green Award for Mr. Dowel Jones, previously shown here.

{The Udder by Tim Whiteley, handmade milking stools with real character. Perfect as a kiddie seat or side table, the polished Blackwood is a beautiful quirky addition to your home. The Big Moo and Little Moo stools are for those wanting something a little more user friendly, with slightly finer legs and an additional leg for stability, but without losing it’s charm}
I must say that I have been impressed by the collection of art by the Designer Boys (aka Waz and Daz from the 1st series of the Block). I have previously mentioned some of their gorgeous collections at Sydney Decoration + Design, here. The standouts this time were the bright and playful Modern Chevron collection and the bold, impact of the huge beetles of the Attenborough Collection. Unfortunately for some, their collection is for supply to those in the industry, so not all of you out there can view it on their webpage, but they have kindly sent me some images of my two favourite pieces from the day. Plus, I’m more than happy to source it for your if you fall in love - we can get one each. P.S. Congrats boys on winning Best Stand!

I still have a big bag of brochures, cards and samples to go through, so if I find anything else too exciting to keep to myself, I may just do another post. Until then, have a happy pretty life.
